My Tools

I’m often asked which tools I use to create Stoat Manor jewelry, so I’ve put together this handy reference page with all my most-loved supplies—everything from my tile nippers to the stained glass grinders I use to shape the china. These are the exact tools I use in my studio (unless noted), and I’ve included Amazon links* for easy reference.

Drafting Templates - for marking out the designs on plates.

Inland Wizard IV Glass Grinder - Top of the Line - a really great glass grinder.

Inland Stained Glass Grinder - Basic - my first grinder, I still have it and it's still going strong.

Basic Gryphon Grinder - the one I use is no longer available but this is a great starter machine.

Inland Diamond Band Saw - the band saw I use is no longer available, but this one is comparable.

3/4" Grinder Bits - to use with the grinders.

10" Drill Press - for cutting out circles from the china using hole saw bits (mine is only available in Canada but this one is comparable).

Diamond Hole Saw Drill Bits- to use with the drill press or drill gun.

Cutting & Grinding Tent - actually used for growing fungi, but my glass grinders fit perfectly inside.

Glass/Tile Nippers - for cutting china by hand.

Hi-Tech Diamond Flat Lap - I use this to thin the china, but it can also be used to shape the china, just be sure to use dopping wax to safe your fingers!

Diamond Sanding Blocks - for thinning & shaping by hand, safer but more time consuming.

Safety Glasses - a must for cutting, sanding and grinding - the shards fly!

Be sure to follow the safety instructions from any machines and tools you use, the dust and shards from china are dangerous. Also, be sure to research how to safely keep diamond bits wet while cutting china - YouTube is a great resource!
